Search Broward County Inmate Records

Broward County inmate records cover bookings, current custody, and the BSO jail roster across Broward's four detention facilities. The public can search Broward County inmate records through the BSO Arrest Search, which updates every 15 minutes and shows arrest number, name, sex, and current location. The roster is the official source for active Broward custody status. Broward County jail roster results lead to a booking detail with the photo and charges. To run a full Broward County inmate search, start with the Sheriff's portal and use the Clerk of Courts case docket for court date detail. Broward County inmate records are public arrest data, not statewide criminal history.

Broward Jail Roster Result Columns

Result rows on the BSO Arrest Search show four columns. The arrest number is a clickable identifier that opens the booking detail.

  • ARREST NO. - clickable arrest or JMS number.
  • NAME - last, first, and middle when shown.
  • SEX - male or female.
  • LOCATION - facility or custody location.

Clicking the arrest number opens the booking photo and additional detail. BSO warns that returns are informational, that information may change quickly, and that an arrest does not mean a conviction.

Broward County Booking and First Appearance

BSO's jail FAQ says arrestees are first transported to Central Intake at the Main Jail in downtown Fort Lauderdale. Booking includes property intake, medical screening, fingerprinting, photographing, and a warrants check. Processing time depends on the volume of arrestees and on state and national database availability.

Arrestees not bonded out appear before a magistrate judge the day after arrest, including Saturdays and Sundays. Proceedings usually begin at 8 a.m., depending on the judge. The judge informs the arrestee of charges and, if appropriate, sets bond.

Mail and Inmate Funds in Broward Jails

BSO uses a postcard-only routine incoming mail policy. The change took effect June 21, 2021. Postcards must be pre-stamped, at least 3.5 by 5 inches and no larger than 4.25 by 6 inches, and written in blue or black ink. Envelopes and personal letters are not allowed for routine incoming mail. Legal and privileged mail follows separate rules and is opened only with the inmate present.

Broward Sheriff inmate mail rules for postcard-only correspondence

The Sheriff publishes the recording policy on its official site. Local calls at booking are free and limited to six minutes. Long-distance calls are collect. Housing-unit calls are generally limited to 30 minutes or less and require a PIN. The PIN is the arrest number. When to Use FDC or BOP Instead
